We are a locally owned, independent community pharmacy on Shannon Avenue in Geelong West. Our nursing home dispensary team works exclusively on residential aged care medication supply, managing prescriptions, packaging, delivery, and resident accounts on behalf of partner facilities.

Mitchell O’Hara Pharmacy tailors its medication supply service to your nursing home facility’s requirements. On a per patient basis, this will vary based on how the patient enters the facility, either via home or hospital.
Generally, the medication supply process follows these steps:
Facilities submit medication requests via email. Our team reviews the request, confirms medication requirements, and prepares the order for dispensing.
Using the eNRMC, our pharmacists dispense and clinically check all medications to ensure accuracy, safety, and compliance with the prescribed treatment plan.
Medications are dispensed, checked, and packed into dose administration aids by our dispensary team. Each pack is labelled with the resident’s name, medication, dose, and time of administration.
When a doctor changes a medication, we action the update as quickly as possible and communicate directly with nursing staff. Updated medications are supplied promptly to maintain continuity of care.
We invoice residents or their authorised representatives directly, applying all PBS, Concession Card, and DVA entitlements. We keep facilities out of the billing loop entirely.
Can you supply facilities outside of the local area?
Yes, we can supply facilities across the greater Geelong area including suburbs such as Grovedale, Norlane, St Albans Park, and surrounds. If your facility is within the Geelong region, we can discuss delivery logistics.
What medication packing systems do you use?
We use Webster-pak blister packs as our primary dose administration aid, with MPS sachet packing available for appropriate residents. Our onsite packing capability means we can turn around medication changes faster than facilities relying solely on centralised packing services.
How do residents' medications get billed?
We invoice residents or their authorised representatives directly. The nursing home facility is not responsible for residents’ medication costs. We apply all PBS, Concession Card, and DVA entitlements on the resident’s behalf, and our accounts team is available to answer any billing questions.
What happens when a resident's doctor changes their medication?
We action prescription changes as quickly as possible. For urgent medications — antibiotics, palliative and end-of-life medications — we offer same-day turnaround. Nursing staff can contact us directly for time-sensitive changes at any time during our opening hours.
